How to create your own Blog website in less than 1 hr using Joomla CMS

When you have passion for writing and you want to convert your passion to your profession one option is to start Blogging. Writing a book and publishing it is more difficult compared to creating a Blog.With advancement of mobile technology and internet crowd is turning towards internet to find answers for their questions and many are reading using desktops and mobile phones.I am going to make an attempt on how you could make your website and a blog post ready in one hour.You could make good amount of money by blogging.You can find a number of succesful Bloggers across the world.Do you want to be one of them ?

Web sites could be created in two different ways, traditional method is to code it using HTML.Coding needs very high time and knowledge and not so easy.Other method is to use Content management systems lie WordPress, Joomla ,Drupal.This article aims at giving basic overview of how to set up a Joomla website for blogging.As a frst step you need a domain name and hosting to start.Read about web design steps in my previous Blog to find out about how to buy domain and hosting.You are going to learn how to create a website and a blog article using Joomla - step by step.

Steps for Joomla website building

  1. Login to your C-Panel of hosting account.(I am using Godaddy for both domain and hosting)

  2. Go to Application Browser install Joomla It looks like shown in below picture.Click on Instal Joomla on selected domain

  3. Once installation is comlete you get a success message as shown below

  4. By default you will have couple of themes.But I prefer to download user friendly free Jommla template from 3rd party website.There are plenty of options available.One of my favourite template is foodworld template .This template is ideal for a business website as well as for personal website.Download the template- you dont need to register ,just download it.

  5. Login to Admin panel of Joomla to upload the template

  6. Upload the template from extensions menu and instal it.

  7. Customise the template,go to control panel of Joomla to customise the template properties like number of slide, description,logo etcWeb design, Web design Joomla,Joomla template

  8. Add new slide images to your website home page.You can download free images from Pixabay.Adding images is part of template customisation

  9. Creating menu for your website - This is one of the easy steps in Joomla.Go to Joomla menu and start adding menu items to the menu.Give apropriate names to your menu item.Each menu item has to be associated with single article.Before starting menu just create some dummy articles so that you can associate them and could modify it later.Web design, Web design Joomla,Joomla menu

  10. Adding extensions for better editing options : Ark editor is one of the nice extensions of Joomla, this editor comes with a lot of easy editing features.This editor provides the Bootstrap editing feature, this makes it very flexible and responsive.

  11. Writing the first Blog article in Joomla is pretty easy in Joomla, go to Joomla menu and select the content menu and select Articles.This takes you to a new window for creating new articles.Using Ark editor is as good as using Micro soft Word.There is no need to have much of technical know how.Any one could write an article easily.Web design, Web design Joomla,Joomla article

  12. Create the content you need and publish the same. Now your article is live.You can link this article to your home page

Website loading speed improvement steps

Think of a website with useful content that takes long time to load.Do you think your visitors are going to wait.Absolutely not.Here are some steps to improve the performance.Following Steps help you to great extent to reduce the page load time

1 Enable Caching - use global configuration

2 Enable gZip compression using global configuration

3 Compress all images - you can use tinypng.com

Joomla has inbuilt Caching and gZip compression , it also provides an inbuilt contact form.
